Siu Rui, Lucas and I started Carousell together in May 2012 with a simple goal of selling our unused gadgets and items, to help ourself declutter our homes. Today, Carousell has grown to more than 90 team mates and is available in more than 13 major cities. We are serving numerous communities. They include stay-at-home mums, toy collectors, and fashion and beauty products lovers, and many more. However, we believe that we are less than 1% done. We are humbled nonetheless that Carousell is ranked the top Shopping and Lifestyle application in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Australia, and backed by Sequoia Capital, Rakuten Ventures, 500 Startups, Golden Gate Ventures, Quest Ventures and angels. At Carousell, our mission is to inspire the world to start selling their unused stuff so they can fill their lives with more meaningful things. One of our core beliefs is that technology can enable people around the world to consume more responsibly. I have always been passionate about design and community. I had the opportunity to develop these 2 areas of interest during Carousell’s early days, where I worked on product and brand design, as a self-taught designer. In addition, I was heavily involved in community building. My role has since expanded to Operations and Human Resources. As a growing organisation, we are currently looking for passionate people across a variety of technical and non-technical roles to join our family and be part of our mission.
