Debbie is an experienced, retired executive, who has led the utility's HR business group and served on their executive team for over 7 years, first as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and then as Sr. VP & CHRO. She led their HR & Training functions as well as Governance of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), leads approximately 150 staff and is responsible for 300 trades trainees. She was responsible for all aspects of HR including: Total Compensation, Succession Planning, Labour Relations, Change Management Employee Engagement, Leadership Development, Trades Qualifications Programs, Safety Training and Recruitment etc. In addition, the SHE governance team is responsible for internal and external reporting requirements as well as internal safety audits. She has been an HR professional in the energy sector for over 18 years and has 23 years of public and private sector HR generalist and specialist experience. In 2005 she joined BC Hydro as Director, HR for Powerex and in October 2007, moved to Field Operations for year as Director HR & Training. Prior to working for BC Hydro, she worked for Terasen Gas for 10 years and held a variety of senior HR roles; her last role was Manager, Enterprise Process Strategies. Education: completed her ICD.D from the Rotman School of Management (2014), has an MBA from Royal Roads University (2001) and holds a BC CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation.
