Jannah Scott is a Strategist, Planner, Advisor, and Public Policy Expert. She has served in many capacities with government and the private sector for over 30 years. Jannah served for eight years as U.S. Department of Homeland Security as Deputy Director, Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Jannah partnered with elected officials and public safety leaders in jurisdictions across the county to promote the engagement of the private sector on issues of emergency preparedness, response, such as: • Building resilience to promote affiliation with local first responders; • Developing promising practices and national policy/doctrine in emergency preparedness; • Building consensus on homeland security issues; and • Creating protocols on the conduct of strategic engagement and partnerships with the public. Jannah has extensive experience in research, collaboration, program and policy development and implementation; capacity building; training and stakeholder engagement. As her resume will indicate, the various jobs Jannah held have provided the opportunity to amass a wide breadth of skills. In her immediate former position Jannah worked with White House leadership, DHS leadership and other federal agencies to engage community-based and youth stakeholders across a range of issues. Engagement, from this perspective included developing relationships, assessing capabilities, providing training and technical assistance; developing cross-sector collaborative partnerships, promoting and measuring good outcomes, and using the lessons learned from these efforts to affect federal policy. That work in communities across the nation allowed Jannah to promote federal policies and programs locally.
