As Global Innovation partner my role involves overseeing the operation of Ashurst's innovation system. Innovation is an ethos that underpins everything we do and our innovation system strives to embed innovation into our DNA through providing the structures and training our people need to think and behave innovatively. With the legal industry predicted to change more radically over the next two decades than over the last two centuries, my role is to ensure we have the agility, know-how and courage needed to deal head-on with the challenges we face. Developing the Ashurst mindset, an ability to think strategically and innovatively, is my key priority. As a services business, our people are our most important asset. When our people apply the Ashurst mindset to their work, we develop new and valuable solutions for clients and provide more rewarding experiences for our people. Drawing on my MBA studies, leadership roles at Ashurst and my passion for innovation and learning, I have been involved with developing and piloting a series of innovation training modules and "hackathon" events which will be integrated into Ashurst's innovation system. I also lead our Australian Structured Finance & Debt Capital Markets practice. We routinely act on first-to-market, bespoke and high stakes transactions, across multiple industry sectors. With increasing product convergence in financial markets, we have a strong focus on collaboration and innovation throughout the Ashurst finance practice, for example: – developing Ashurst's Australian regulatory transactions practice in the context of the financial institutions sector, bringing together specialists from different groups including structured finance, insurance regulation and derivatives; and – developing Ashurst's US high yield and Eurobonds capability, working closely with our Hong Kong, London and NY offices.
