Four years working for an NGO in war-torn Afghanistan has given Chris a breadth of experience and an alternative view on issues that is beyond the mainstream. Working in an unstable environment helped him to rapidly develop his evaluation and decision-making skills. Chris is an established technology leader who has developed Arup’s cyber security programme from the ground up. Chris has been instrumental in establishing cyber security as a key risk at board level. Through his global leadership of cyber security he has established an excellent reputation and relationships with senior business stakeholders in order to deliver a security strategy and programme commensurate with the risk appetite of the firm.Chris’s key strengths include being able to understand cyber security risk and see it within the bigger organisational picture, setting strategy and direction and getting buy-in to the vision, communicating and influencing at all levels within an organisation to achieve results, and ensuring that complex technical concepts are presented in easily understood business language. Chris has a particular focus on ensuring that security is appropriate in the business context, provides value and delivers on business strategy.Specialties: Cyber security (CISSP qualified), technology leadership, IT strategy, enterprise architecture (TOGAF certified). Chris holds chartered IT professional (CITP) status.
