Founded in 2004, Anomaly is a new-model, multidisciplinary marketing communications firm/advertising agency with offices in New York, London, Amsterdam and Shanghai.
Journalist, creative, photographer, digital innovator, strategist, academic. I specialize in helping news organizations to innovate using science, data and design thinking to create new content types and products for the digital audience. I have experience across all areas of digital content, from video to social and design content and strategies based on testing, learning and potential monetization. I began my career as a TV journalist, covering British and international news with Sky News. After realizing the impact social media was having on consumers, publishers and brands I specialized in social media and mobile content for the Wall Street Journal. As part of this role heading up editorial innovation in 2014 my work was nominated for an Emmy Award, European Press Award and Gerald Loeb Award. As a specialist in content innovation and changing editorial structures for digital I moved to Australia for a year secondment to work for News Corp on digital content strategy across editorial, product and advertising. I'm now back in New York working on content strategy for the WSJ. As an Honorary Senior Lecturer and a member of the Advisory Board in the University of Sheffield's Journalism Department, I teach on the future of journalism to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students and help set the Department's curriculum. I also go by the name of @fieldproducer and I've been a guest panelist or speaker at SXSW, Social Media Week NYC, Social Media Week Sydney, Storyology Sydney, News Rewired London. As part of my role as Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield I write my thoughts about the journalism industry on Medium.
