Mary Modahl is a Board Director and Advisor specializing in commercialization and growth. Her experience spans technology and healthcare organizations, with a particular focus on Annual Recurring Revenue based business models that combine software with services. Modahl’s functional expertise centers around sales and marketing, product management, digital engagement, communications, and company culture and brand building. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of IANs, a Cybersecurity Advisory Services company, on the Advisory Board of Kaia Health, a digital therapeutics company in musculoskeletal pain management, and as an Advisor to Brodeur Communications. Her prior Board work includes both non-profit and private for-profit organizations. As a company Officer, Modahl was instrumental in telehealth leader Amwell’s successful IPO of 2020. During her 10-year tenure at Amwell, Modahl and team drove revenue from less than $5M to over $250M, acquiring more than 55 Payers and over 180 Provider organizations as clients. As the leader of client engagement services, she expanded the number of clinicians using Amwell from fewer than a dozen to over 80,000 and the number of annual patient encounters from a few thousand to 6 million. In addition, Modahl played a key role in Amwell’s acquisitions of Avizia, Aligned Telehealth, SilverCloud Health, and Conversa. Before Amwell, Modahl led growth marketing for QuantiaMD, a physician social network and CME platform, and Health Dialog, a disease management and wellness provider, both of which were successfully acquired following their initial growth periods. Prior to that, Modahl served as an Officer of Forrester Research from inception through its successful IPO in 1996, in leadership roles that spanned sales, marketing, and product development. Under Modahl’s leadership, Forrester’s revenues grew from under $1M to over $150M. As a leader at Forrester, Modahl had wide exposure in national and international media, including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Financial Times, CNBC, NBC, MSNBC, and NPR. During her time at Forrester, Modahl published a best-selling business book,”Now or Never: What Companies Must do Today to Win the Internet Consumer.” Modahl began her career as a Loan Officer at Bank of Boston, serving clients in Switzerland from its London offices. Modahl holds a BA in Economics from Harvard University and completed an Executive Program in Leadership for Professional Services Firms at Harvard Business School.
