Christopher M. Kennedy is chief operating officer and legal counsel for a large, complex insurance company in receivership, responsible for over $600M in assets and an annual operating budget of $17M. Chris has practiced law for over 20 years in multiple areas, including civil litigation (including employment, insurance, products liability, commercial litigation, class action, real estate, personal injury, civil rights, construction, and others), corporate/business law and development, contracts, and criminal law. He has won many jury verdicts in trials involving such diverse fields as contract disputes, real estate, criminal felonies and serious personal injury cases in Illinois and Michigan--and has successfully defended verdicts before appellate courts in Illinois and in the federal court of appeals. For many years, Chris has also served as an arbitrator in civil cases in both Cook and Lake Counties.Chris received his Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, in 1994, where he was a member of the Law Review, the Law Review Executive Board, Moot Court, a Dean’s Scholarship recipient, and writer of an award-winning research publication. While in law school, Chris also served as an intern with the United States Attorney’s Office in Chicago and the then-Chief Judge of the United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois. Chris received his Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1990, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. Chris is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois, the United States District Courts of the Northern District of Illinois (trial bar) and the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.Chris is an elected school board member and has also written over a dozen Illinois laws to assist children and adults with developmental disabilities.
