Studio Director

Company
Windmill Lane

Windmill Lane Pictures has a long established reputation for creative film and TV post production in Ireland. Founded by James Morris in the early 80's as a commercial post production house and music recording studios, and based at a site on Windmill Lane in the Dublin docklands, the facility became famous as the base for early U2 recordings. In 1990 with the backing of Paul McGuinness of U2, James set up The Mill in London which subsequently went on to become one of the most successful creative post production houses worldwide. In 1998 James led the consortium that was awarded Irelands first independent TV licence and TV3 went on air in September 1998. Now relocated in 2009 to new premises in the beautiful, historic Georgian streets in the Merrion Square district, Windmill invested over €5m in a new data production facility designed for high end film and TV post production. Together with excellent connectivity our ambition is now to attract international post production to Dublin, along with maintaining our position as Dublin's leading creative post production house. In the domestic market over the years, Windmill has provided post production for features and TV drama by directors such as Neil Jordan, Jim Sheridan, John Boorman, Thaddeus O'Sullivan and many others, with the recent RTE drama Love / Hate in particular becoming a huge success for our Drama production team. On the commercials side, we have team of experienced and highly creative editors, colourists, animators, vfx and finishing artists, supported by a hugely experienced production team. Over the last few years, we have worked on award winning campaigns for clients such as: The National Lottery, Eircom, Three Mobile, Meteor, Guinness, AIB, DAA, Irish Water, as well as a major international campaign for the world-wide launch of Strongbow Premium bottled Cider. Windmill also houses Dublin's leading Audio post facility, providing a roster of talented and experienced audio engineers for Drama and Programme work, as well as TV and radio commercials. Windmill Audio has also successfully branched into providing Ireland's burgeoning animation sector with a full audio editing, dubbing and final mix service, which competes on quality and cost with any service internationally. For International projects, a combination of digital technology and Ireland's Section 481 film and TV tax incentive, means we can now work seamlessly with clients from around the world. Our recent investments in new high resolution data based post production facilities, combined with high speed connectivity, make creative collaboration over distance and time zones both practical and most importantly cost effective.
