Ford Motor Company and supermarket giant H-E-B have called on Dan's expertise and experience. As a journalist, Dan played a key role in breaking a national story on the Pentagon procurement scandal for The Associated Press in 1988. At the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Dan broke a nationwide story on police unions' organized opposition to rapper Ice-T for the song, “Cop Killer.” At the San Antonio Express-News, Dan worked his way up the ranks from reporter to assistant editor, helping to supervise a staff of 10 writers and produce a daily Business section.
