My name is Jillian Speck and I am a freshman at Indiana University, pursuing a marketing degree through the Kelley School of Business. I attended Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where I achieved academic success through hard work and determination. I was recognized for this success by being awarded the Indiana University Excellence scholarship, as well as obtaining direct admittance to the prestigious Kelley School of Business.|I have work experience as a Picker & Packer at J&B Importers, which significantly contributed to my skill set. At J&B I learned the importance of efficiency and time management, as it was required to operate on a strict time schedule. While working, I also exercised my passions- communication and building relationships. I crafted relationships with each employee and created a harmonious and enjoyable work environment. Currently, I am Vice President of Communications for Wright Quadrangle, which is the dormitory that I live in. In this position, my communication skills have grown as it is my responsibility to reach each of the 1,038 residents to market events and information regarding Student Government to them. In this position I have been able to exercise my creativity while strengthening my communication skills.|I hope to use the skills I have and the ones I will obtain in the future to pursue a career in the marketing field. I have a strong interest in marketing because I would be able to creatively think, while reaching and connecting with a broad base of people. It is my goal to continue my academic success throughout my time at Indiana University, and then further that success in my working career. Ultimately, I hope to live a happy and successful life with a loving family.
