I am a nurse academic and elected local government member with a passion for issues relating to health, education and community. I believe strong, healthy and sustainable communities are critical for quality of life with health and education fundamental to life outcomes. I have demonstrated leadership, management, administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills in academia, community and clinical contexts. I have the ability to engage students to achieve their goals using a range of teaching techniques including inquiry based learning, team-work, problem solving but also more traditional styles. I have sound communication skills encompassing consultation, counselling, liaison, negotiation and advocacy. I possess good verbal and written communication skills. I am able to establish rapport and engage people in relevant processes, and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
