The University of North Carolina School of the Arts is America's first state-supported arts school, a unique stand-alone public university of arts conservatories. With a high school component, UNCSA is a degree-granting institution that trains young people of talent in music, dance, drama, filmmaking, and design and production.

Before joining the UNC School of the Arts, I spent nearly 10 years working as a television news producer in Ohio and Arkansas, meeting daily hard deadlines sometimes under extremely stressful situations. I spent an amazing summer working on a special congressional election as the Press Secretary then transitioned to a public relations/political consulting/advertising firm where I wrote press releases, position papers and news articles and organized fundraisers. That experience helped greatly working with alumni and donors of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. I was responsible for all communications from the office, including monthly e-newsletters to alumni and friends, editing the quarterly alumni magazine, writing and editing all capital campaign materials and other brochures. I was the website administrator for the office, responsible for all content on the website and managed the office’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, etc. I managed the office’s partnerships with travel, insurance and credit card companies, otherwise known as affinity programs. I also worked with the Louisiana College Coalition to organize alumni events across the country in addition to staffing dozens of local and regional alumni events in Louisiana and Texas. During my tenure at NSU, our office began a Student Alumni Association, and I served as the staff adviser for the group, which won an honorable mention as Best Student Group at the CASE District IV meeting in 2010.
