As the Vice President, Intellectual Property & Litigation at UL, I am responsible for strategically advising the company on the full range of legal and business issues. UL is a US-based multinational safety science and technology company that is best known for product testing, inspection, & certification (TIC). In addition to its traditional TIC business, UL offers a suite of software products and tools (including on premise and hosted solutions) to help companies manage their supply chains, train employees, and get to market faster and more efficiently.As chief IP & litigation counsel for the company, I lead two teams of lawyers and other legal professionals who protect UL's innovations and IP, set and implement IP strategy, negotiate deals, defend the company against lawsuits (including IP, employment, breach of contract, product liability, and other claims), and creatively manage the risks we encounter in our business. Before UL I spent 8 years in private practice focused on intellectual property law.My specialties include: - Serving as a trusted business partner with senior executives and board members- Leading and managing other professionals- Creating, planning and implementing IP, litigation and risk mitigation policies and strategies- Structuring, drafting and negotiating complex international business transactions and agreements- International IP portfolio management- Information & cyber security and data privacy - M&A and corporate development- Brand protection and anti-counterfeiting- Enforcing and defending IP rights- Litigation management - Enterprise risk management- Employment/HR
