With numerous legal, management, investigative and OHS qualifications, Michael has over 30 years operational and management experience in both the government and private sectors. Recent roles have focused on performing OHS and security functions from both a regulatory enforcement/compliance perspective while undertaking roles with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, to the management of organsiational compliance while in the role of Safety and Security Manager with the TransLink Transit Authority and as the Head of Discipline for Safety Management witin TMR. While Director of Organaisational Performance and Risk at TMR, he also had added responsibilities for enterprise risk management and organisational performance & reporting. His new role as Director Emergency Risk and Resilience will see him oversee the Emergency Management and Internal Security functions for TMR. This vast wealth of experience has seen him elected a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia in May 2017. He describes his management style as team focused with a strong emphasis on empowering individuals through clear direction, support and mentoring to produce high quality outcomes.
