After spending summer’s running for rank film labs in Manchester (which at that time meant actually running with cans of film between Rank, The BBC and Granada) I landed a job cutting film negative ready for transmission. Tedious though it was it meant handling, cutting and joining the final, and only, film of every TV show in the area. A love of actual film was born and after spells as Assistant film editor, PA, producer & Director with local production companies I set up The Gate with my then producer Sarah Jarvis, in 1997. 25 Years later and I’m still here, not directing much any more as running the business, 4 kids and a very amateur Triathlon career doesn’t leave much time, but loving the business just as much. Jan 2023 has seen us become part of the Tag family, and in my role as Head of Film I’m responsible for all film production across the EMEA region, exciting times.. Along the way we’ve managed to pick up many awards, some incredible film making talent, and the new world seems to bring more and more opportunities for those of us skilled in making engaging film and photography for brands. Looking forward to seeing what the next 25 years will bring….
