I am a detail-oriented writer, editor, and proofreader with a passion for the written word. As a former magazine writer and editor, I am experienced in writing engaging copy for a target audience or transforming existing copy into error-free text. For three years, I was a contributing writer for Break Magazine, an entertainment weekly in Tallahassee, Florida; I wrote cover stories, secondary features, and an arts-and-culture column. As an Information and Communication Specialist for North Carolina State University's Alumni Association, I wrote articles for NC State's alumni magazine and edited copy using the AP style manual. As a freelance writer, I co-wrote a five-year impact report on "The School Readiness Project" (SRP) for the School of Human Ecology at University of Wisconsin-Madison. For this year-long project that often involved travel, I interviewed task-force members in ten diverse Wisconsin communities and compiled research demonstrating the ways in which the SRP increased school readiness in young children. In addition to writing and editing magazine articles, I have taught English to middle-school, high-school, and college-aged students for over ten years. Because of my extensive experience teaching young-adult literature, I am particularly passionate about editing and proofreading young-adult and middle-grade fiction novels using the Chicago Manual of Style.
