SPI Lighting is an electronic manufacturing company offering commercial lighting fixtures.

I have worked in the accounting field for the past 30+ years. The shift in accounting for manufacturing started in the year 2000. The manufacturing industry created a passion within me. Service industries are important but to work for companies that manufacture a product, create something from a concept is truly exciting. Manufacturing creates such an economic benefit to not only our state but the entire nation. We have to make sure that manufacturing continues to thrive and grow. One of the methods of learning about an industry is to become actively involved in industry associations. I worked on the board of the Wisconsin chapter of the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) where the learning experience acquired from similar companies was a wealth of resources. Currently I am working for a manufacturer of commercial and architectural lighting fixtures. As in all manufacturing industries, we need to find ways to compete against low cost countries. So in order to find that, as a CFO, I feel it is one of my duties to look for ways to improve business processes. In both this company and my prior work life, I looked for ways to improve current processes. One of the best ways to help a company is through grant funds. I secured over $500,000 in various funding opportunities to bring training and capital resources into the corporations.
