Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP is a law firm that founded in 1927.

I am pleased to be the CMO at Sheppard Mullin, a 750-attorney law firm with 15 offices worldwide. Although headquartered in LA, I reside in the firm's San Francisco office. I started my career as a management consultant at Arthur D. Little, Inc. Unlike many of my law firm marketing colleagues who start in-house and then eventually hang out a consulting shingle, I did the reverse. Sitting on "both sides"​ has given me a broad perspective on the issues law firms face and how to navigate their unique cultures. My first law firm marketing experience was as Director of Marketing at Pettit & Martin in San Francisco. Six months into that job, a gunman entered the premises and killed several attorneys and staff in our firm. I then became a reluctant expert in crisis communications. It is because of my experience at Pettit & Martin that I am at Sheppard Mullin today, as many of the Pettit folks joined Sheppard Mullin when Pettit dissolved. Along the way I had the pleasure of heading the Marketing dept. at McCutchen Doyle Brown & Enersen in San Francisco and then experiencing the intricacies, from a marketing perspective, of a law firm merger (between McCutchen and the Bingham law firm in Boston). I'm proud of having served as the President of the Legal Marketing Association's (LMA) Bay Area Chapter, and being awarded its highest honor for professionalism.
