I’m a lifelong software engineer turned technology leader. I love working with great engineering teams to create high-quality software that is delightful, useful, and that works. I’ve been programming since I taught myself 6502 assembly language in grade school, and eventually went on to earn a Ph.D. in Computer Science in the fields of distributed systems and high-performance computing (HPC). I was the chief architect of Endeca's core search and analytics server technology, and then CTO for 7+ years through our acquisition by Oracle. I’ve been back at startups since then, and today I’m the EVP of Engineering at Salsify leading a team of one hundred delivering innovative commerce technology for the biggest brand manufacturers in the world. I love working with great engineers who share the joy of creating these beautiful puzzles we call software. My passion is building amazing teams and establishing a strong engineering environment and culture to enable skilled and passionate engineers to learn, grow, and deliver high-quality innovative technology. I believe in servant leadership. I love working in fast-growing companies where software product plays a starring role, and helping the R&D organization to propel the strategy and growth of the business. I also love the outbound part of the role, interfacing with customers, partners, investors, and analysts.
