SAGE is the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) older adults. SAGE has pioneered programs and services for the aging LGBT community, provided technical assistance and training to expand opportunities for LGBT older people across the country, and provided a national voice on LGBT aging issues. In 2005, SAGE became the first official LGBT delegate at the White House Conference on Aging. In 2010, SAGE was awarded a three-year $900,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Administration on Aging to seed the creation of the nation's only National Resource Center on LGBT Aging.
I'm a communications strategist with 10+ years of experience designing conversations for science, tech and nonprofit organizations. I'm committed to building nonprofit capacity by standardizing practices and streamlining workflows. I'm working toward becoming an expert in collaborative design for cross-sector initiatives. With roots in pharmacogenomics, I’m deeply invested in science, emerging technologies and population dynamics. The needs of civil society are better met with strategies grounded in complex ecological thinking. I bring this perspective to conversations on data and civic engagement within open society and sustainability contexts. I spent several years managing communications for a global network of 20,000 philanthropic entities. In 2015 at a conference in Turkey, I presented a global framework for distributed social networking for CSOs, and was later invited to consult on a national housing initiative launched by a U.S. organization which advocates for LGBT elders. I use what I learn from sector leaders like the United Nations, Foundation Center, Ford Foundation and TechSoup, the leading tech provider to nonprofits, to help social sector professionals communicate and collaborate better.
