Experienced IT professional with extensive experience across many different areas; from software engineering, application development and technical architecture through to planning, provisioning and maintaining infrastructure, overseeing service delivery in mission critical environments and managing both development and operational support teams. Although I have worked in roles that have had a very broad remit in terms of technical focus I have been involved in IT security on a more specialized basis throughout most of my career and have developed a particularly strong skillset and expertise in this area. This has ranged from working within established security teams with responsibility for multi million pound transactions in the financial sector through to introducing security strategies from the ground up in organisations without existing capabilities in this area. My work has covered the following areas: secure application and API design; operational and infrastructure security; vulnerability management; education and awareness; specialised training for development and customer facing teams and also regulatory compliance. As well as a my technical capabilities I have extensive management experience and am used to managing budgets and relationships with external suppliers. I am an excellent communicator with the ability to establish relationships at all levels of an organisation; from stakeholders, project boards and `C level' executives to developers, operational staff and the user community. I have a consultancy background and have worked in a number of different organisations across several industries including financial institutions, telcos, energy, software companies and web-based enterprises.
