Bio

If we develop our information systems and technology without wisdom or prudence, our servant may prove to be our executioner. As a senior executive leading Information Systems & Technology (IST) for three Fortune 500 corporations and others, I guide teams to develop technology systems with wisdom and prudence. I have led startups, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), change, positive disruption, and transformation. Possessing experience with multiple Business Governance Models (Public, Private, Private Equity Backed), I align technology with business strategy, operations, and marketing. Many days my job feels like I’m steering air traffic control at Chicago O’Hare. I manage multiple urgent priorities, meet customer requirements with safety- and security-focused technologies, strive for on-time arrival, and avoid crashes. As the IST Leader and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, I offer extensive global experience across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. My team and I excel at providing service analysis for business growth, information security, systems availability, and responsiveness to overcome barriers and meet business needs. NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: ⇨ STARTUPS: Played a pivotal role in building PBF Energy from a Private Equity-backed (Blackstone & First Reserve) startup to one of North America's largest multi-billion-dollar independent refiners. ⇨ SEPARATION & STANDUP: Envisioned and repositioned Motiva’s IST function from 100% managed services to hybrid model of insourced and outsourced resources with metrics transparency. ⇨ BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION: Spearheaded global business transformation and technology implementation project for ExxonMobil on behalf of PWC, directing 40 resources across 8 teams in Brussels and rewriting / deploying team of 400 in Tokyo. ⇨ TURNAROUNDS / M&A: Critical leader in planning and executing transformation of Petroplus from PE-backed (Carlyle and Riverstone) turnaround through IPO (SIX) and European expansion (Germany, UK, and France) from 3 to 8 refining assets. ⇨ CYBERSECURITY: Developed a comprehensive Cybersecurity program inclusive of assessment, remediation, ongoing monitoring, employee education, and defense of assets from cyber-attacks at Motiva. My recent work history is outlined below. Early in my career, I pioneered the SAP consulting practice in the Western US at Pricewaterhouse (which become PWC and then IBM). I also served as a Director at Premcor Refining Group, where I executed IT-related sell-side activities associated with Marketing and Distribution business.
