Amy Wu is the government and politics reporter for The Salinas Californian a Gannett digital and print organization. She has served as a guest lecturer and on the media panel for the Panetta Institute. Amy has 23 plus years of professional journalism experience. She has worked at Time magazine, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle and written for The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. She spent six years working in Hong Kong, widely reporting within the Asia-Pacific region including Shanghai and Singapore. She spent a number of years teaching journalism in Hong Kong and at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is an active member of the Investigative Reporters & Editors. She received an honorable mention in public service reporting from the George F. Gruner Awards (IRE), the best journalist award from the Organization of Chinese Americans and the DiCagno Award for the best investigative story on environmental protection or human rights from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She was a Gannett fellow for the 2016 IRE Conference. Amy is a native New Yorker, majored in history at NYU and earned her masters’ degree in journalism from Columbia University. She is also an avid swimmer and completed the 28.5 mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim as a relay in 2010.
