Northern Australia Conservation Officer
The Nature Conservancy protects Earth's natural resources and beauty. Our conservation efforts are driven by our members. Act Now.
I have extensive environmental experience that began in the 1990's through biodiversity field surveys in Australia and Papua New Guinea. I started my professional career in environmental management in 2000 with EcOz Environmental Consultants. Over the past 16 years, this career has expanded to include international conservation, botany and livelihoods development research, international development, natural resource management, project management, community and Indigenous engagement with people from Southeast Asia and Cape York. I have lived and worked in Cameroon, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia and in Australia's Northern Territory and Far North Queensland. I am currently working at The Nature Conservancy in Northern Australia. My focus is on ecosystem services, human wellbeing in relation to Indigenous land management. I previously worked as Knowledge Management position at Cape York Natural Resource Management. This involved planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and improvement across programs. In July 2015 I started a business, Mida Organics, trading Australian produced eco-friendly and organic products to Vietnam, also with the purpose of improving environmental awareness in Vietnam. I am an adjunct researcher at James Cook University to focus on my interests in social-ecological systems and valuation of ecosystem services. I am also a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's Commission for Ecosystem Management and on the Management Committee of CAFNEC.
