Senior Spatial Data Scientist
The Nature Conservancy protects Earth's natural resources and beauty. Our conservation efforts are driven by our members. Act Now.
I am a spatial data scientist using technology to help solve vexing environmental problems. My skills include: Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization: I compile spatial and temporal data from multiple sources and analyze it to answer key questions. For example, we did not know how the drought was impacting California's streams, so I created the Drought Dashboard, an interactive infograhpic that shows current stream flow relative to historic norms for hundreds of stream gages in California. Scientific Publications: I authored or co-authored 11 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including a new methodology to determine the vulnerability of plants and animals to climate change. Programming: I am adept at several programming languages including python, javascript, and objective C. I independently developed an iPhone/iPad application called The World Daily that displays daily updated satellite imagery for the globe.
