As CIO for Deloitte UK and Switzerland, I was responsible for all aspects of IT provision for Deloitte in the UK and its ‘sister’ firm in Switzerland, including a significant budget and 300 IT staff to serve a population of 17,500 in a variety of offices and 3rd party locations in the UK and Switzerland. This included leading the IT function, partnering with the business to create, develop and prioritise a portfolio of projects and services with appropriate IT solutions. I drove improved capability of the IT function to respond to the challenges of an increasingly digital world and a growing demand for innovative and cost effective solutions. I joined Deloitte as a graduate following the completion of a degree in Business & Information Systems and I progressed upwards rapidly. I was promoted to Manager in 2001, Senior Manager in 2002 and Director in 2007. I was part of the IT Senior Management Team from 2001 and the Internal Client Services Leadership team from 2011. I was also a member of the Deloitte Global CIO council, overseeing and advising the Global CIO and UK Leadership on major IT implementations, changes, security and maturity assessments. My ability to translate technical terminology into plain English, a strong business acumen, coupled with strong leadership and relationship management skills have been the key drivers to my professional success, with many senior internal and external stakeholders regarding me as a ‘trusted advisor’.
