I had my first sales job offer when I was in cub scouts. I had been selling Popcorn outside the local grocery store. Liking my aggressive, chase ‘em to their cars technique, the owner of a car dealership asked me to see him when I turned 18. But by that age I was the sales manager of a local printing and copying company. I discovered that I love to sell at age nine; I’ve been honing my craft ever since. Now I work with small businesses throughout the Midwest to help them grow. I advise them on marketing strategies, staffing, lease negotiation, operations, equipment buying decisions, business acquisitions, sales and technology. Clients often ask me how I know about a particular service, technology or application that solves the current issue they are facing. It’s part inspiration and partly that I spend a copious amount of time researching innovative and fresh ways to approach problems. The adage, ”If it ain”t broke, don't fix it” doesn’t apply to me. I take a proactive approach to everything I do: improvement is always possible. I get really excited watching people succeed in business. The majority of the entrepreneurs I work with came from different backgrounds. Many were downsized from corporate jobs, some are just getting started in business, some are previous owners of independent printing companies. Others just want the freedom to spend their time as they choose. They decide to quit building equity in somebody else's retirement plan.
