Peter Weis has 15+ years of global CIO experience, and is currently VP and CIO of Matson, a $2.2B publicly traded, global transportation and logistics company (NYSE: MATX). Peter leads a global IT organization that is responsible for strategy, software development, infrastructure, high-availability operations and all levels of IT governance. Peter's leadership track record spans both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. Most recently he led Matson’s successful multi-year IT transformation that fully re-built the IT Services organization, and refreshed Matson’s entire applications portfolio. Legacy systems are in the rear view mirror. Matson's technology platform is fully virtualized and operating 100% in the cloud. Costs are down dramatically, while velocity and customer satisfaction are up. In 2014, 2015 and now in 2016, Matson has been ranked as the #1 ocean transportation provider in the world, both in overall service and in information technology. Peter advises technology start-ups on product, commercial and organizational strategies, including a role as committee chairperson. He also led Matson Logistics’ supply chain business unit, which during the past three years has grown by over 50% annually. Prior to Matson, Peter was Vice President, Products at GT Nexus, a global supply chain software company, and CIO of APL Logistics, a large global 3PL whose growth strategy was fueled by technology. Peter is an experienced speaker on leadership, technology, and supply chain topics and is a faculty member at UC Berkeley's School of Information.
