PROFILERetired in 2001 from a very high profile career in the Police Service, where over 34 years was known for his progressive and energetic approach to the provision of efficient and effective public service, and balancing the conflicting requirements of the individual and the organisation. Continues to deal with Ministers, Senior Local Government Officers and Members, and other significant public and private sector organisations at the highest level.Throughout his career was constantly involved as a Trustee of diverse voluntary bodies operating on a national scale.2004 to 2011, first Chairman of the Gangmasters Licensing Authority, created in the wake of the Morecambe Bay disaster, in order to reduce exploitation of workers in the agricultural, fishing and food-processing sector.
