Dr Graham Herries is an experienced executive leader with over 20 years of proven engineering leadership, managing complex programmes to deliver cutting edge high technology solutions. Ground breaking innovation, engineering and transformation projects in defence, aerospace, security, AEC and industrial engineering. Extensive project and programme leadership with P&L ownership requiring complex national and international relationship management. Directly reporting to board members for the last 8+years as a SVP & CTO. Multiple roles as a Co-chair & Advisory group member. He holds a Ph.D. in data classification using statistical classifiers and neural networks (in today's parlance Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics). Appointed as an Honorary Fellow at The University of Nottingham with Computer Science. Led the Industry 4.0 EU H2020 Factory of the Future research and innovation project OPTIMISED. This €7m EU research grant has developed and deployed IoT, digital twin, data analytics and AI techniques to optimise rail and manufacturing scheduling and performance, whilst also assessing energy demand response as a critical input to manufacturing planning. This Industry 4.0 demonstrator has yielded significant benefits to all consortium partners and has been deployed in cloud(Azure) and on-premise. Experienced in leading, managing and developing geographically dispersed teams and the need for cultural sensitivities in managing global teams, clients and suppliers. International experience with multiple language skills, lived and worked in 3 other countries (France-5yrs, Italy-2 yrs, Germany-3m). European Commission expert project reviewer with experience leading and reviewing EU funded projects. Periodic Reviewer for University Engineering & Built Environment faculty. Passionate about the development of STEM opportunities and encouraging children into engineering careers. Contributing to University advisory boards on industrial perspectives to improve graduate outcomes, in particular working with BCU on its 5 year periodic review of the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Built Environment and employment outcomes.
