My Professional Engineering career began in 1988 as an Elect. Engineer with the State of California, Dept. of Transportation. In this capacity, I coordinated electrical work involving lighting, traffic signals, illuminated signs and various devices to meet specifications, codes and standards. In Dec., 1988, I accepted a job offer as an Elect. Engineering Assist. with the City Of Los Angeles Dept. of General Services and worked as Project Engineer for the development of performance specs and implementation of radio, telephone, security and the first nodes of the City’s LAN/WAN/FDDI networks. I also planned, designed and implemented IBM 3090, System 36, AS/400, Token Ring and Ethernet networks for Mayor, Council Offices, and Council-controlled City departments. In 1994, I promoted to Comm. Engineering Assoc. and served as Lead Comm. Engineer developing build-out requirements and implementing various high profile communications projects. In 1998, I promoted to Comm. Engineer and served as the Facilities Unit Manager responsible for the planning, design, construction and installation of the Radio, Microwave, Telephone, LAN/WAN, Audio, Video and Security systems aspects of the 1989 $176m LAPD Bond Measure to upgrade/replace 12 police facilities. In 2003, I promoted to Sr. Comm. Engineer/Project Manager and served as Section Manager of the Propositions F & Q Engineering Section. I lead a team of 6 Professional Engineers and 4 Technical staff in the successful implementation of the comm. facilities and systems aspects of the $1.1B City of Los Angeles Propositions F and Q Bond Programs. For over 13 years, I served as Division Manager with the City of Los Angeles Information Technology Agency. In this capacity, I provided Technical, Administrative and Management oversight in the planning, design, implementation, operation and maintenance of Radio, Microwave, Mobile Data, Dispatch, audio/video, alarm, security and Avionics communications/navigation systems.
