Dr. Enrique Zudaire is currently an Associate Scientific Director at Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) where he is a Translational Research and Biomarker lead. Previously he held a Staff Scientist position at the National Cancer Institute where he lead translational oncology projects with a particular focus on immuno-oncology, tumor angiogenesis and dynamics of the tumor microenvironment. Previously, he held a research fellow position at the Cell and Cancer Biology Branch (NCI) where he developed research on novel cancer biomarkers, tumor microenvironment and discovered the aryl hydrocarbon receptor as a new tumor suppressor gene in multiple human cancers. Prior to joining the NCI he was awarded an Assistant Professor position at the Autonomous University of Madrid where he directed research on lung pathophysiology. Dr. Enrique Zudaire received his PhD from University of Navarra (Spain) in cellular biology where he was awarded top Ph.D. dissertation at the Faculty of Sciences. Dr. Zudaire has authored numerous papers in prestigious scientific journals on the role of oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, tumor microenvironment dynamics and angiogenesis on cancer progression. His research has been broadly recognized through prestigious awards, including the National Cancer Institute Director’s Innovation Award and national and international media coverage.
