I am a higher education administrator with more than 20 years of experience in a community college setting. For the past five years I have been a regional academic affairs officer at Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana. I have also served as a dean and an assistant dean within academic affairs over the past 10 years. My experience also encompasses student affairs leadership including academic advising, career services/counseling, recruitment and retention. I have served as principal investigator on several large National Science Foundation (NSF) grants. My masters degree in communications studies has enabled me to teach public speaking and interpersonal communications consistently over the span of my career. My dissertation focused on issues of social justice, gender equity and student success. I am highly committed to issues of equity, diversity and addressing the needs of our most at risk student. I believe that quality instruction, sound curriculum and engaged faculty are key components of student success. I bring to any work environment energy and enthusiasm for innovation. I understand that funding issues require creativity and imagination. Data driven decision are critical in today's complex higher education environment. Strong connections to local workforce provides the best framework for quality CTE programming while broader understanding of the value of community college as it fits into bachelor's degree pursuit is key to the community college mission. College readiness is likely the highest priority of most community college pathways. It requires critical consideration practically on a daily basis. I am a servant leader who believes that strong teams and collaboration leads to positive results.
