Development Specialist
The House of Hope is a private, non-profit organization that has been providing substance use disorder treatment, education, and behavioral health services to thousands of men, women, and children throughout Utah since 1946. Programs are available in Salt Lake City, Provo, and Ogden, Utah.The House of Hope Women and Children s Program in Salt Lake City provides Residential, Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient and Day-Treatment substance use disorder treatment services for adult women, pregnant women, women with children, and mothers reunifying with their children, to treat serious substance abuse problems. Residential services are available for 43 women and 45 children daily.
Valerie, a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, and MA in Anthropology, worked in the Substance Use Disorder field since the late 1970's in many positions, including: grants and development; administration; human services; program development; counseling; substance abuse and mental health disorders; and women and children's specific substance use disorder treatment needs. She has knowledge of therapeutic community treatment models, as well as a modified therapeutic community setting providing residential, day treatment, and outpatient services. Valerie left the House of Hope in June, 2015. She continues to serve on the UBHPAC advisory council for the Utah State Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and on the DOPL Substance Use Disorder Counselor Advisory Board. Valerie is working as the part time Development Specialist at The INN Between, a local nonprofit that provides hospice and respite care for homeless men and women in the Salt Lake and Wasatch Front area.
