Certified Peer Specialist Trainer, Pat Risser has been providing award-winning trainings in the mental health field since 1987 and has provided a wealth of information to professionals, students, families and consumers/survivors. He has been a human rights activist and mental health advocate for over twenty-five years. His lived experience includes working as an Intensive Case Manager, work as a therapist on a locked, acute inpatient unit, over ten years as a "mental patient," developing self-help peer support groups, organizing, building and directing a statewide consumer network, directing a patients' rights/advocacy/self-help program and creating, designing, implementing and conducting an intensive 12-week training for consumers/survivors to learn successful community living and vocational skills.
