I am the founder of vCISO Services, LLC, launched in 2017 to combat the growing threat of cyber-attacks to SMBs with part-time seasoned executive information security expertise at a fraction of the cost of hiring a full-time CISO. I have over 33 years of experience in information technology and security including over 15 years at the CISO level. Before launching vCISO Services, LLC, I served as the senior information security executive in higher education for the largest undergraduate university in Tennessee, in government for the largest city in Tennessee, and in finance for the third largest Tennessee-headquartered bank. I am passionate about information security both within the job and in external endeavors, having participated and volunteered in leadership positions in several information security organizations, local and national. This passion has prompted me to pursue other information security projects to help SMBs. I am proficient in information security, risk assessment and mitigation, information technology planning and project management, disaster recovery and business continuity, technical writing, policy and standards creation and implementation, and public speaking. I am highly effective at integrating information technology and security with business needs and processes and matrix team leadership, with experience across multiple verticals. I have authored many information security and technology articles and presented at various conferences over many years on information technology and security topics. I am also an author, having published three novels and collections of poems and horse humor articles. I maintain a blog featuring thoughts as an independent author and has several writing projects in various stages of development.
