I have 20 years of experience starting and growing technology businesses as a product-driven general manager and go-to-market leader. Additional areas of expertise include corporate strategy, M&A and post-merger integration, partnerships, fundraising, building and leading remote teams, recovering from mistakes, and recruiting (then getting out of the way). Areas I have experience with include: machine learning, loyalty, marketplaces, search, commerce, travel, international, and consumer and SMB. Specifically, I build big, new business lines on top of an existing growth-stage businesses, usually quickly and profitably. I help develop short and long term strategies, then execute by finding companies or teams to buy, partners to work with, or/and I build organically by scrounging internal resources and by hiring. I have been lucky enough to have been part of great companies like McKinsey, CitySearch (IAC), WorldRes (WRI), Yahoo (Verizon), Uptake (Groupon), Mayfield Fund, and Ebates (Rakuten). CTOs Uncorked is an invite-only peer-mentoring dinner that I co-host quarterly for Vancouver’s leading CTOs. I occasionally invest and serve as a CEO advisor to select non-SF Bay Area companies, helping them: scale, recruit and onboard senior leadership, clarify expansion alternatives, as well as plan and execute exit strategies. I grew up in Singapore and Vancouver and went to school @ UBC, Western and MIT.
