Dan leads the Global Technology Office for CSC. He is very engaged in CSC's strategic business initiatives including Cloud, Big Fast Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Mobility and Software Defined X inclusive of broad based automation and integration techniques. In 2015 Dan's role was expanded to include Business Strategy and in October 2015 to include VP/GM for CSC's $200m Cyber business. At EMC, Dan's advanced architecture team lead the OCTO portfolio in the areas of Big Data as an MPP workload, the Cloud Service Provider as the target operator, and the emerging commodity scale out infrastructure. This work is continuing to exploit scale out data analytics, data federation across cloud plants, improvements in scheduling and distributed query architectures as well as indexing, query routing and meta-data strategies to support cloud scale. This includes a focus on semantic information integration and management, information governance and secure federation. Joining EMC in July of 2006, Dan had been engaged at integrating information centric grid activities into a commerical platform designed for high-scale, high-throughput, information processing; leveraging SOA techniques, information analytics and PetaByte scale information management capabilities. Dan's specific interests include massive scale distributed computing/operating environments, distributed fault tolerant environments, and Web 2.0 / social collaborative computing. Prior to joining EMC, Dan spent 2 years as the CTO for Sun's Sun Grid program (network.com/$1/cpu-hr), a pay as you go, multi-tenant isolated network of computing resources linked by a network operating system, Chief Technologist for the US Sales Organization, Chief Strategist for Services, and a key leader in Sun's Java franchise. NET: Dan is a Systems Engineer with 20+ years of software development experience in distributed systems and dynamic languages, and a proven business executive driving transformational programs for growth. Specialties: Dan has been involved in both internal product development and customer facing field orgs. Dan's technical background lies in massively distributed service oriented architectures and emergent event driven/information oriented architectures.
