The Council for Economic Education focuses on economics and financial literacy education by providing economics education resources to teachers & students.

Ruben A. Rivera has been working with nonprofit organizations for the past thirteen years. With over 10 years experience in tax preparation for the state and federal government, and 6 years experience as a college counselor, Ruben provides knowledge to students and families in low income communities to help them make informed decisions regarding college access. For the past 6 years, Ruben has been a college counselor and a financial literacy instructor for the Children’s Aid Society. Ruben has served on numerous financial literacy panels including the Council for Economic Education’s Advancing Financial Literacy for young Americans. In his numerous courses, Ruben aims to ensure that students and their families maximize their higher education potential by providing knowledge on college opportunity programs, financial aid, college cost, graduation and retention rates, and student debt. Ruben teaches a tax course at the City College of New York Continuing and Professional Studies department. Currently, Ruben serves as the College Access Manager for the Children’s Aid society were he oversees 5 high schools and 3 after school college programs. Ruben has developed several training workshops in finance, financial aid, FAFSA, and other professional developments to help individuals in the secondary and higher education improve their college access skills. Ruben graduated from the City College of New York with a BA in Sociology and Jewish Studies and received his Master’s in Adult Education and Training from the University of Phoenix, where he currently is working on a PhD in Higher Education Administration.
