Technically strong and highly commercial Finance professional with 28 years PQE, the last 14 years in the UK Life industry, and prior to that 8 years as a divisional Finance Director in the Pension, Asset Management and Wealth Management industry. Not just a Finance person. My greatest satisfaction is contributing to the team, working together with all parts of the business to build something successful, getting immense satisfaction when I see a new product, business, or initiative grow and be successful. My reputation is based on technical expertise, with a uniquely deep understanding of both accounting and actuarial disciplines, sound commercial judgement, and the ability to build close relationships with senior stakeholders across the business. Trusted as someone worth listening too, someone who can sift through the complex, identify the key issues, and find the story. A calm and quiet nature belies a strong and determined (steely) interior, someone who is confident in their ability and judgement. I am also extremely curious, which requires me to understand how things work and to find the “why”. This also drives an interest in the wider UK market and to keep myself informed on industry activity and trends. I lead by example, setting high standards of judgement and professionalism, building strong relationships and endeavour to exert a positive energy to those around me. Increasingly as my career has progressed I get increasing satisfaction from seeing my team develop and grow.
