I'm a builder. My passion is building teams that build software that delights customers and grows businesses. I do it at startups and public companies and with groups from 2 to 200+ people. In the roles of architect, engineering leader, and executive, I work at every level, from the details at 50ft up to broad strategy at 50K ft level. I have led the development of game-changing software products and features, contributing over $100M in incremental revenue. In over 15 years as VP Engineering, I have led software development projects resulting in products used by millions of consumers, such as Braintree's Payment Gateway, Groupon's Website, and RealNetworks' RealPlayer. I am an expert at mapping business goals to technology solutions, creating and conveying the technology vision, executing the product/platform roadmap, and meeting and exceeding business objectives. I drive performance excellence on multiple concurrent projects through entire product life cycles across platforms, including The Web, iOS, Android, and backend systems. Utilizing integrated teams with members in roles, including developers, QA, DevOps, and product managers in an agile methodology, I focus on outcomes and deliver incrementally. I lead with an eye on continuous improvement, tech debt management, and growth of the people in addition to product delivery. I am a natural people leader, successfully leading teams, large organizations, and cross-organizational efforts to achieve objectives. I am experienced in building and leading high-performance globally dispersed engineering teams of over 100 with operating budgets over $50M. I am an innovator with 25 issued patents, inventing technology to improve products and grow businesses. I have led the creation of new products and technical solutions from algorithms to systems to web and mobile consumer experience.
