Storyteller/Media Relations Pro/Strategic Communicator/Marketing-Social Media specialist/Former Award-Winning Journalist I love digging up stories that touch people's hearts, make them laugh and bring them closer to the truth. Change motivates me. My strengths include working with people from ranging backgrounds and experiences. I’ve helped shine a local, national and international spotlight on my organization by coordinating stories for The Detroit Free Press and Detroit News, Fox 2 Detroit, WXYZ, WDIV, Media News Group, WWJ and WJR radio, NBC Nightly News, The View, MSNBC, ABC National News with David Muir, the Today Show, Good Morning America, Global News Network of Canada, Yahoo News Service, People magazine and TV networks in the Ukraine, Australia and Japan. A nomination I wrote for Beaumont pediatric neurologist Dr. Meghan Harper-Shankie in August of 2021 earned her an Excellence in Care/Top Doc Award from Hour Detroit -- along with a three-minute mini documentary on her life-saving work which I helped produce. In August, 2021, I coordinated a press conference to celebrate the launch of Beaumont's new outpatient campus in Lenox Township and am currently coordinating a campaign to launch the system's Behavioral Health Hospital this November. In March of 2019, I participated in PIO/disaster preparedness training at the Department of Homeland Security, serving me well just one year later in my media relations role for Michigan's largest health system during a global pandemic. To date, Beaumont has treated and vaccinated more COVID-19 patients than any other health system in the state. As a journalist, I worked as a news reporter, health writer/columnist/editor, lead the social media charge for Media News Group in 2010 and served as director of the Macomb Regional Community Media Lab, a non-profit that provided free social media and business support for the community. In this role I developed, promoted and led workshops and collaborated with local business, government and non-profit partners to create programming. Participation in our events consistently surpassed other labs in Michigan and throughout the corporation. My work was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, the Michigan Press Association, the Associated Press and various local organizations. I served as a founding board member of the Macomb Food Collaborative, which supported food-based businesses and educated the community through workshops and an annual conference. I'm a graduate of Leadership Macomb and in 2014 was nominated for an Athena Award.
