Avior is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing the first, liver-friendly, and effective treatment for chronic itching and skin inflammation in patients suffering from chronic liver disease. In a subset of this disease called primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), the bile ducts in the liver get destroyed, and the bile acids distribute into the skin, causing this unmet morbidity condition. Avior is developing the first and only once-daily (QD) non-invasive, oral transmucosal film product (AV104 film) to treat this morbidity condition. We have generated promising data from our three Phase I studies to define the starting dose, effective dose, dosing frequency, and open-label studies that show that our drug AV104 works. If we are successful, we will expand our opportunity to 2.5 million liver disease patients in the US that suffer from this distress condition where currently no drugs are on the market.
