Chris Bowers is currently the IT COO and head of the BCG's Business Systems Group. He recently received the 2016 Boston CIO of the year award (Global Category).Chris has worked extensively in IT leadership roles aligning the strategic needs of the business with IT, driving large scale business transformation and managing globally diverse IT organizations and vendors. As IT COO for BCG, Chris is an active member of the IT and Global Functions Leadership teams and manages the IT Platform investment Committee. His current role provides him with the opportunity to work closely with the many leadership teams within BCG to help drive change to meet the aspirations of the business while in parallel driving technical innovation. Specifically, Chris leads the Business Systems Group, digital collaboration and IT Business Operations.Chris is currently coordinating the change agenda across BCG including our Consulting & Knowledge areas, our Global Functions and alternate business models while in parallel leading the IT organization transition to a new IT-as-a-service (ITaaS) organization. Chris is an expert adviser in both planning and delivering change across multiple areas to create new or enhanced capabilities. Prior to joining BCG, Chris worked for EMC for 10 years as a business unit CIO and helped lead the change effort to transform the company from a high-end IT storage provider to a multi-product multi-price point information management solution provider. In 2016, Chris was awarded the Boston CIO / Executive of the year for Global Companies in 2016. He has presented on leading strategic transformation at Oracle OpenWorld, Northeastern University, Babson College and most recently at a regional CIO Symposium. He holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and an bachelors degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech.
