Primary role is to lead and share all technical and engineering best practice, lessons learnt & innovations in civil engineering in major projects & highways: supporting both tenders and projects. Lead technical support through a team of subject matter experts and our Method Led approach utilising both innovative methodologies & clever sequencing; design; and digital engineering. Always on the lookout for new innovations both technical and digital that support faster simpler delivery - eliminating the hazard - that can be shared across the whole business. I lead the Balfour Beatty Safety by Design & Engineering Forum est. 2009, that shares engineering knowledge, innovations, best practice and lessons learnt across BB UK and industry and across the BB business worldwide connecting with our businesses in the US and Hong Kong. Active member of BB Group Engineering Technical Leadership team. Supporting the development of the wider Technical Expert Network across the whole of Balfour Beatty. Leads Knowledge sharing & best practice & learning lessons within the civil engineering sector and promotes the use of digital technologies to improve the way we go to work for better business outcomes for both ourselves and our customers. BB member of the Infrastructure Industry Innovation Forum, i3P and BB council member of CIRIA. Also active participant in industry groups such as the UK Temporary Works forum and Network Rail Safe by Design Groups and National Highways Principal Designers Working Group. Also responsible for specific BB Innovations such as the King Sheet Piling Retaining Wall System - www.ksp-piling.co.uk that reduces the steel content by 30% with significant productivity gains. In Sept 2016, I completed a great personal achievement - LeJoG - Lands End to John O'Groats in 9 days as part of a BB team we raised over 200k for charities such as the Princes Trust, Barnardo's and Coram.
