I specialise in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law.|My background was in private practice in New Zealand where I worked for two years before moving to the United Kingdom. On arriving in London, I chose to work predominantly in the public sector to gain further experience in employment law.|My experience includes:|Employment Tribunals|- Acting and advising on all types of contentious matters and Employment Tribunal claims including unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, breach of contract, discrimination, whistleblowing, breach of TUPE obligations and unlawful deductions from wages.|- Conducting advocacy in final hearings, PHR and CMD hearings.|- Drafting, negotiating and advising on compromise/settlement agreements and COT3 agreements.|General employment advice|- Drafting contracts of employment.|- Presenting training for HR and solicitors on Employment Tribunal tactics and costs.|- Drafting and reviewing employment policies and procedures and advising on their implementation.|- Providing guidance on the employment status, volunteer, agency and atypical workers.|- Advising on vexatious litigants, grievances, disciplinary, capability and performance management issues.|- Advising on restructures and redundancies.|- Advising on exit strategies, settlement agreements and negotiating termination packages.|TUPE|- Advising on the application of TUPE for internal and external clients (including conducting a successful PHR hearing) and on outsourcing, insourcing services.|- Assisting clients on their TUPE obligations in procurement exercises, assessing the risks involved, drafting appropriate warranty and indemnity protection and exit provisions.|Education/Judicial Review/Information law|- Advising on education law matters including Academy conversions, judicial review litigation (High Court reported case) and information law in the context of employment law.
