Hailed as a technology visionary, Bernie Khoo has worked in the healthcare space for over 20 years as an executive. What makes him unique is his tenure and proven track record -- over 6 years as the Chief Information Officer at the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, over 14 years as the Head of Technology and department chief at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Recently, Bernie was appointed as the interim Executive Director for CancerLinQ -- ASCO's pioneering initiative to develop a learning healthcare system that will help oncology professionals analyze and share data on every patient with cancer. His current role involves working side by side with leaders in the healthcare field, utilizing cutting edge technology to develop powerful new oncology tools, and help change the future of cancer care. Prior to healthcare, Bernie served as the principal technical advisor for the Environmental Protection Agency on issues surrounding web-based systems for integrating non-parametric quantitative data with real-time qualitative data from Fortune 500 companies under the Energy Star’s web portal. He developed systems architecture design and web-based energy performance measurement tools for EPA’s Energy Star industry portal. In 2000, he was part of the senior management team responsible for transforming Ntercept Solution into the leading Internet tool for sophisticated online data collection and reporting. As Senior Vice President for Product Management & Marketing and Chief Research Officer, Mr. Khoo directed the business development operations, marketing, communications and product research for a high profile dot-com startup venture. Responsibilities included evaluation of potential technology vendors and partners, building strategic alliances and cultivating client relationships. He also developed organizational-wide benchmarks to monitor continuous improvement, alignment and growth.
