I joined AQR's SysAdmin team as the lead technician for Exchange 2010. I soon expanded to Active Directory lead, then started to automate various systems. Within a year I had written several automation programs that allowed the Active Directory to become the primary source for many of our other systems. I then agreed to become the interim manager when the SysAdmin manager was released. I continued to perform the duties of both a technician and a manager for a year until a new SysAdmin manager was found. I then concentrated on contract renegotiations for many of our vendors, including Microsoft, Symantec, Veritas, and several others. I also continued my automation efforts and wrote synchronization scripts to set WorkDay as the new source for Active Directory. I also introduced many policies and procedures, and worked closely with the CISO to ensure we were not only adhering to security standards, but exceeding them.I am currently trying my hand at management and have five people reporting to me, one of which has three people reporting to him.
