Senior Director of the Tech Fellows Program
Apache is a computer software company that is engaged in open source development and open source governance.
I've been lucky enough to work in many layers of IT, from design to programming through architecture, implementation and evaluation. I like opportunities that are unbounded and allow each person to collaborate in a healthy and open environment. A world-recognized figured in the Open Source community, I have key insights, understanding, experience and expertise in Open Source development, foundations, governance and licensing and am a respected and sought-after speaker on development and collaboration. I founded a successful ISP and web hosting company, have developed code and solutions for numerous F100 companies, built and managed dispersed teams, driven revenue and growth, served as CTO for two very well known and respected companies (Zend Technologies and Covalent Technologies), and been Chief Architect and Chief Open Source Officer for SpringSource (and VMware) as well as having been a driving force and developer within the open source community. As such, I am a co-founder of the Apache Software Foundation and have served in executive roles within the ASF, while still actively coding. My coding is not limited to Apache projects, having coded and provided patches on just about all the core technologies of the Web and Internet infrastructure (e.g.: BIND, NTP, etc). A natural leader and mentor, I grow and maintain healthy, viable communities and teams. I am also an expert self-taught coder, with deep knowledge of numerous languages, with a special affinity for scripting languages, and have applied this talent on many substantial Web, Cloud and Infrastructure projects. I wish to continue use my skills, experience and expertise to help companies and communities grow, develop, thrive and prosper.
